Early Childhood Program Philosophy
The Rolling Meadows Park District tot, preschool and pre-k
programs encourage a child's full expression and develop
confidence through social interaction. We offer a wide range of
experiences at developmentally appropriate levels. Children are
involved in activities that include large and small motor skill
development, dramatic play, music, math and science experiences,
creative art, language development and field trips.
Tot Time - ages 3-5
The Tot Time program is a self-contained one, two or three
day option offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from
9:30-12:00. Goals of this program include: adjustment to class
without a parent, development of communication skills, large and
small motor development, and development of creativity in art.
Preschool - ages 3-5
The preschool program allows for a variety of cognitive
experiences and developmental growth in a fairly structured but
more transitional environment. Each class will have the
opportunity to experience different rooms with their teachers as
they move through the daily activities. Segments include gym,
free play in the playroom area or on the playground, library,
craft, snack and either music or science/math. Classes are
offered two or three mornings for 2.5 hours and in the afternoon
for 2 hours.
Prekindergarten - older 4's and 5's
This is a five day program for children who turn 4 by March 1
of the spring before pre-k begins or for children who have
turned 5 already. Through activities in the classroom each
child will reach a higher level of readiness in alphabet
recognition, numerical concepts, shape recognition and language
development.
