Rolling Meadows Park District is inviting families to learn more about proposed improvements to South Salk Park.

A Community Input Meeting is set for 6pm Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at South Salk Park, 3900 Owl Drive, behind Nelson Sports Complex. This project would replace more than 20-year-old equipment at the playground, along with other proposed improvements.

South Salk Park has been identified both by the District and community as a location that would benefit from upgrades and enhancements to better serve residents through a new playground and improved recreation opportunities. To help fund this project, Rolling Meadows Park District is seeking an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant.

Families are invited to enjoy an evening of play at the park, while learning more about the proposed project from RVi Planning + Landscape architecture. Refreshments will be provided.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, a survey to provide feedback is available below.

Community Center Park Ribbon Cutting

Rolling Meadows Park District has officially unveiled new historic changes to Community Center Park!

A Ribbon Cutting event took place Saturday, September 27, at Community Center Park, located behind the Community Center at 3705 Pheasant Drive.

Renovations to the park include a Ninja Warrior-style Challenge Course, a Fitness Court, two dedicated pickleball courts, a 9-hole miniature golf course, and in-ground ladder toss and baggo. These exciting additions have turned Community Center Park into a true multigenerational hub—an inviting space where people of all ages can stay active, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.

The Ribbon Cutting served as a soft opening for the new features and equipment. A Pack the Park event is planned for 2026, once the final elements—such as the planting of native wildflowers and grasses in the park's bioretention basin—are completed.

“Once this area fills in with native blooms by late spring and early summer, it will become a truly breathtaking space where families can work out and play,” Troy said. “In the meantime, we know the community is eager to start enjoying these remarkable new features, so we’re excited to welcome everyone to the park as the finishing touches are wrapped up.”

The project is supported in part by a $600,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), with a $50,000 grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and National Fitness Campaign helping to fund the Fitness Court.

Community Center Park Project Update

Rolling Meadows Park District officials broke ground on Tuesday, April 8 to launch major renovations at Community Center Park.

Located behind the Community Center at 3705 Pheasant Drive, the park will soon feature an exciting lineup of new amenities, including a Ninja-Warrior-style Challenge Course, Fitness Court, two dedicated pickleball courts, a 9-hole miniature golf course, and in-ground baggo and ladder ball.

“This project not only reflects our vision of providing exceptional opportunities to play, learn, and grow—it also highlights the powerful impact parks and recreation has on our community,” said Executive Director Nick Troy. “These new additions will transform how people experience Community Center Park, encouraging active and healthy lifestyles, meaningful connections with family and friends and the creation of lifelong memories.”

These additions are designed to promote outdoor play and active living, transforming Community Center Park into a vibrant, multigenerational hub where families and friends can gather, connect, and enjoy the outdoors.

The project is supported in part by a $600,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). Work is expected to be completed in August/September.
