Rolling Meadows Park District Seeks Feedback Regarding ADA Compliance

Thursday, July 31, 2025

Rolling Meadows Park District is updating its Transition Plan for existing parks and facilities, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

“We have made many accessibility improvements in parks and facilities, and it is important to the District that our parks and facilities are usable by people of all abilities,” said Nick Troy, Executive Director.

The District has retained The W-T Group, LLC (WTG) Accessibility Practice to help complete this ADA requirement through the provision of public feedback opportunities.

One of the ADA Transition Plan requirements is to seek public feedback on access priorities and preferences. This helps the District better understand what is important to the community. The District invites people with disabilities and their family members to share their preferences and priorities regarding accessibility Thursday, August 21, from 6-7:30pm at the Community Center, 3705 Pheasant Drive.

Shelley Zuniga of the WTG Accessibility Practice will review the ADA requirements for existing parks and facilities, discuss some factors other Districts have considered in setting priorities, and share some images of what the access audit teams saw at Park District sites. Then, importantly, the audience shares information about their access priorities, helping to shape the transition plan.

Please RSVP by reaching Nick Troy at 847-818-3200 or ntroy@rmparks.org. A sign language interpreter will be working at the meeting.

In addition to the in-person meetings, a brief online survey will be available to collect feedback regarding the access priorities and preferences of District parks and facilities users that are unable to attend the meetings. The survey will be open starting the week of August 4, and will conclude on Monday August 18, 2025.
