May 14 COVID-19 Update
Thursday, May 14, 2020
Dear Rolling Meadows Park District Community,
Like you, Rolling Meadows Park District continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic; taking into consideration guidelines and safety information released daily by local, state and national subject matter experts. While our mission is to provide opportunities for individual growth and community connections through parks and recreation, we are also firmly committed to the health and safety of participants, guests and staff.
It is due to this commitment to the health and safety of the community we have made the difficult decision to keep Nelson Sports Complex Pool and Splash Pad closed for the 2020 Season. We understand the pool and splash pad provide immeasurable benefits to the community; however, the guidelines associated with social distancing and recommendations provided by the State of Illinois and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) just do not make it feasible to open these amenities. If you have registered for any summer aquatic programs, a full refund will be provided.
As a reminder, our beautiful parks and picturesque walking trails remain open. Please remember, when enjoying the outdoors, be respectful, responsible, and maintain proper social distancing of at least 6 feet. Additionally, our new live virtual programming for preschoolers to seniors continues from the comfort of your own home. Please visit our website for all the exciting details. And, continue to follow Rolling Meadows Park District on Facebook and Instagram for the latest #RecreateAtHome activities, contests, and ways to win amazing prizes.
The Rolling Meadows Park District recognizes its community responsibility as we diligently continue to determine when and how to proceed with opening our facilities and on-site programs. On behalf of the Board of Commissioners and staff, thank you for your patience and understanding. We are all anxiously awaiting the time when you can visit the Community Center again, skate at one of the ice rinks, participate in our in-person programs, and play on the playgrounds. It remains our distinct privilege to inspire our community to live happier and healthier lives by providing exceptional opportunities to play, learn and grow.
Be safe, be well, and we're all in this together.
