Firefighters, Park District Make Positive Impact Through Pancake Breakfast Proceeds

Proceeds from the Fire Department Pancake Breakfast recently held at Rolling Meadows Park District's Park Central will benefit two great causes this summer.
A total of $950 was raised at the May 6 breakfast, which took place in partnership with Rolling Meadows Park District, Rolling Meadows Firefighters and Paramedics, IAFF Local 3075, Rolling Meadows Professional Firefighters and the Rolling Meadows Fire Department. Proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast will be donated evenly between the Rolling Meadows Park Foundation and Camp I Am Me, a one-week camp experience for children and teenagers who have experienced injuries from burns. Lodging, meals, activities and transportation are covered at no cost to campers.
In addition to proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast, IAFF Local 3075, Rolling Meadows Professional Firefighters will donate funds to Camp I Am Me from the Fill the Boot campaign held throughout the year. In the past three years the group has raised more than $4,000 for Camp I Am Me.
“Being part of a fundraiser like this always feels good to give back, and we are very fortunate and happy to be in a position to help others,” said Lieutenant Mike Mullaney President of IAFF Local 3075, Rolling Meadows Professional Firefighters. “Philanthropy and charitable work go hand in hand with the members of Local 3075 and I am extremely grateful for all of the members of our Union who consistently show up to raise funds and promote positive endeavors. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of the Rolling Meadows community behind us.”
Held annually in May, the Pancake Breakfast has become a longstanding tradition the community looks forward to each year, said Recreation Supervisor Kailey Schwartzhoff. The opportunity to give back makes the event even more special.
“We are proud to be part of such a fun event that continues to grow in popularity,” Schwartzhoff said. “This year's breakfast had an impressive turnout and it's wonderful to see all the ways the proceeds will help others.”
